Introducing a new food is very easy, but it is a gradual process. Feeding the Trophy way will ensure the terms of the Trophy Satisfaction Guarantee are met.
Gradually introduce your new Trophy food over a five-day period. Mix with the current food, increasing the Trophy food by 20% each day, until the changeover is complete. With the sensitive dog, gradually introduce over 10 days.
Feed twice a day to improve digestion and stabilise blood sugar levels. In some cases this can also help reduce hyperactivity and nervousness.
Always feed the correct amount, don’t be tempted to overfeed, as complete food will look less. There is a feeding guide on each bag. Intake amounts will vary depending on weight, size, age, gender, and activity levels, as well as overall well-being and other factors. Feeding guides are intended as a starting point and can be adjusted. It is vital not to overfeed.
Please note, however, that for a short time the motions may change from their normal appearance as your dog gets used to their new food. In feeding Trophy, the motions should become firmer and easier to clean up. This should lead to fewer motions, however with some dogs frequent ‘toileting’ is a normal sign.
Feeding from a raised bowl is a good idea for large and giant breeds.
You can moisten the food with a little water if you wish. Remove any leftover food after feeding. We do however recommend that the food is fed dry.
Make sure clean, fresh water is always available. Dogs do drink more water when fed a complete food.
A change in food will be required as your dog gets older. Please discuss when and how with your local Trophy Nutritional Adviser.
